The Second Session of the Third Synod of the Diocese of Oru met at Emmanuel Church, Ubulu in Oru West LGA, from 5th to 8th May, 2016 under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual leadership of His lordship, the Rt. Revd. G.N. Chukwunenye PhD with his wife Dr. Mrs. Joy Chukwunenye President Women and Girls Ministry. The theme of the Synod was “Worship not God in vain” Matt.15:5-9

At the end the session, the synod resolved as follows:

1.  That every Christian in this Diocese should devote his or her time, talent and resources to serve the Lord.

2.  That any member of our church found to be involved in idol worship; occult practices or traditional rites that are against the word of God should repent or be ready to face ecclesiastical sanction.

3.  That Bible study, prayers and attendance to church activities and programmes should henceforth be taken more seriously.

4.  That based on the following programmes introduced by our Lord Bishop – “Beginning the month with Jesus and Diocesan Bible Conference tagged Bread of life conference, we passionately plead with all members of this Diocese to adhere to this programmes and attend same accordingly. Our members are called upon to as a matter of urgency, sponsor the Bible Conference by donating money and food items so as to make it a free Conference.

5.  That the office of Lay-reader is a call to service and therefore should not be used as a title, those involved in such act should desist from it forthwith.

6.  That for proper standard financial practices every Church should submit their annual audited report to the Diocesan office. Also monthly P.C.C meeting minutes and statement of accounts should also be submitted monthly. Every worker must comply to these directives.

7.  That the Synod encourages every member of this Diocese to be faithful in payment of tithes and stewardship.

8.  That every Christian in this Diocese is hereby warned to desist from taking Nze and Ozo titles as this would be a serious distraction in our worship unto the Lord. Also previous stand of Oru Diocese against defaulters of this, still remains even at burials.

9.  That the Synod still maintains that deceased members of the Diocese should be buried within a period of thirty days and after thirty days the Church should not be involved in that burial, unless an extension is granted by the Bishop.
